As a singer, artist and songwriter, I have developed a healing modality called sound therapy, as I believe sound vibrations can powerfully treat physical and emotional pain.
Sound Healing or Sound Therapy is a new, growing field within integrative medicine. It is based on ancient wisdom practices passed on for thousands of years. In a modern sensibility, think about the impact you feel by the sounds of a waterfall, the waves of the ocean, the lull of a rushing river, the quiet on a mountaintop. Human brains respond to sound waves in powerful ways that research has only begun to document.
As in other forms of somatic psychotherapy that attend to the psyche (mind) and soma (body), sound healing sends sound vibrations into the body to target areas of pain, stress, tension or trauma.
While some sound therapists create sound vibrations with instruments, my particular approach is to guide clients to produce sonic vibrations with their own voices that vibrate into problem areas in the body that hold pain, tension or trauma. We experiment and find specific sound frequencies with your voice that soothe and relieve symptoms as well as contribute to the healing of traumatic injuries.
I offer sound therapy as stand-alone sessions or as adjuncts to your individual psychotherapy.
